Typography script

Brief -
You will “translate” a script into typography – using the DIY Alphabets you created and two other existing typefaces:
Baskerville (you can use Times New Roman if you do not have Baskerville)
Helvetica (you can use Arial if you do not have Helvetica)

Assign an appropriate typeface to each person/character so that we not only “hear” their voice, we see it too. Identify a typeface that best represents them - try many out first for each person before you decide. You may add very limited drawn elements but the majority of your finished script must be typographic. You can use only ONE "found and self-sourced" typeface from the internet. The rest must be selected from the DIY Alphabet library you are all creating for each other.
You may use only one colour other than black/white, and you can change the opacity. Advice: use this colour sparingly! Remember that typographic personality can be enhanced through the appropriate use of colour/tone, scale, styling, positive/negative, repetition, contrast, composition/positioning...

Your final “script” should be presented in ISSUU digital book format.

The script I have chosen is Script 2 - Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone. Since Harry Potter is such a globally known franchise, there is a lot of source information to draw from in inspiration for this piece.  The characters are widely known, and those who have watched or read Harry Potter will have a good grasp on the characters personalities, thus making the process of turning their interactions into type far more easy then before.

Dumbledore: I should have known that you would be here...Professor McGonagall.
[The cat meows, sniffs out and the camera pans back to a wall. We see that the cat's shadow progressing into a woman with a tall hat. There are footsteps and Minerva McGongall is revealed.]
McGonagall: Good evening, Professor Dumbledore. Are the rumours true, Albus?
Dumbledore: I'm afraid so, Professor. The good, and the bad.
McGonagall: And the boy?
Dumbledore: Hagrid is bringing him.
McGonagall: Do you think it wise to trust Hagrid with something as important as this?
Dumbledore: Ah, Professor, I would trust Hagrid with my life.
[There is a motor sound, and the two professors look up to see a flying motorcycle coming down from the air. It skids on the street and halts. A large man with shoulder length black hair and beard named Rubeus Hagrid, takes off his goggles.]
Hagrid: Professor Dumbledore, Sir. Professor McGonagall.
Dumbledore: No problems, I trust, Hagrid? Hagrid: No, sir. Little tyke fell asleep just as we were flying over Bristol. Heh. Try not to wake him. There you go.
[Hagrid hands a baby wrapped in a bundle over to Dumbledore.]
McGonagall: Albus, do you really think it's safe, leaving him with these people? I've watched them all day. They're the worst sort of Muggles imaginable. They really are...
Dumbledore: The only family he has.
[They stop outside a house which is 4 Privet Drive.]
McGonagall: This boy will be famous. There won't be a child in our world who doesn't know his name.
Dumbledore: Exactly. He's better off growing up away from all that. Until he is ready.
[Dumbledore places the baby on the ground slowly. Hagrid sniffles, he is sobbing a little. He clears his throat.]
Dumbledore: There, there, Hagrid. It's not really goodbye, after all.
[Hagrid nods. Dumbledore takes a letter and places it on the baby, who is now at the foot of the door.]
Dumbledore: Good luck...Harry Potter.

Albus Dumbledore
Albus Dumbledore was the Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and leader of the Order of The Phoenix during the First and Second Wizarding War against Voldemort.

Dumbledore was very wise man with a calm and relaxed demeanour, and he was also considered one of the greatest Wizards of modern times. However, he was also very manipulative, puppeteering the lives of people around him for what he considered the "Greater Good". An example of this is orchestrating his own death, and refusing to tell Harry Potter that he was a Horcroux.

Minerva McGonagall
Professor Minerva McGonagall was the Head of Gryffindor house, Transfiguration teacher and later headmistress of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft of Wizardry.

McGonagall is a stern but respected woman, who is unafraid to speak her mind and wildly protective of her students. Courageous and loyal, she attempted to stop the unlawful arrest of Hagrid and was attacked by multiple stunning curses, which landed her in St Mungo's Hospital. McGonagall also fought at the Battle of Hogwarts.

Rubeus Hagrid
Rubeus Hagrid is the half-giant groundkeeper and later Care of Magical Creatures Professor at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Hagrid is an incredibly warm hearted and kind man who often forgets his giant strength and size. Loyal and courageous, he respected Dumbledore a great deal and reacted protectively if anyone insulted the headmaster. One of his flaws was his inability to keep secrets, which lead him to tell Harry, Ron and Hermione how to get past the three headed dog, Fluffy, in the first book.

Here is my first attempt at a 7 column grid. I will sketch a few more with varying numbers of columns and work from those that look the best.

Here I experimented on photoshop with initially trying to differentiate the different "voices" of the characters through a rough and quick layout of the script.

Picture
I decided on these fonts for McGonagall because I feel like they portray her stern personality.
I chose the Baskerville font for McGonagall as it is a practical, no nonsense font which I think represents her well as a character.

Picture
I decided on these three fonts for Hagrid because I feel like they accurately portray his round and gentle personality, while still portraying how large he is.
I chose the DIY font by Sarah Elliot, because I feel like it portrays Hagrid's personality while also showcasing his messy and wild side as well.

Picture
I decided on these fonts for Dumbledore because they all convey a sense of eccentricity that is key to his character.
I then chose the Blacksword font as my choice for Dumbledore, as it has more legibility to the script than the others.
